A new way of thinking about the family

This presentation introduces a principled approach to parenting based on scientific facts, starting with adopting a new way of thinking about family as espoused by Bowen family systems theory.   This presentation explains the following:

1. Human behavior is a product of evolution,
2. The Family as a system, 
3. Emotion, Feeling and Intellect, 
4. Individuality and Togetherness,
5. Differentiation, and 
6. child focus

This is a strengths-based approach. It addresses the imbalance in the family system rather than pathology in the individual. Each family is unique. Parents and children remain attached throughout life.  Problems occur when this attachment interferes with independent adult functioning. Symptoms develop as a result of too much attachment.
