
CLINICAL SUPERVISION GROUP
Course Objectives
- To facilitate the application of systems thinking to the conceptualization and treatment of clinical cases –
Participants will learn to identify the emotional processes of the clinical families, the multigenerational themes and patterns, and develop hypothesis.
- To enhance the counsellor’s self-awareness and management of self in the counselling process –
Participants will learn to identify their reactivity, emotional triggers and counter-transference in the counselling process.
Course Content
It will be a small group of 6 persons.
The first 2.5 hours – Two presenters will present their clinical cases respectively with questions, comments and reflection from the instructor and group members.
The last 0.5 hour – discussion on reading. Participants will discuss on an article /book chapter on Bowen theory.

Peggy Chan has over 20 years of experience counseling families, couples, and individuals. She is a long-time student of Bowen Theory, having trained at the Bowen Center in Washington, D.C., and continues her research and teaching in the field. Peggy has presented internationally and developed parenting programs rooted in Bowen Theory for both the local Chinese community and parents of substance abusers. She is deeply committed to helping parents foster emotional maturity and stronger connections with their children. She has much interest in women’s issues and in-law difficulties. She has supervised Master’s-level counseling students for more than two decades. Her counselling and supervision are guided by the systems perspective.
